A recap of Saturday in the Dodgers minor leagues.

Player of the day

Justin Wrobleski introduced himself quite nicely to Oklahoma City, striking out a career-high 11 of 21 batters faced in his Triple-A debut.

Wrobleski only walked one but allowed three runs in his five innings, including two home runs to get stuck with a hard-luck loss.

On the season, between Tulsa and Oklahoma City, Wrobleski has a 3.22 ERA in 14 starts, with 73 strikeouts against only 14 walks in 72⅔ innings, the latter more than any Dodgers minor league pitcher this season. Saturday was Wrobleski’s second career double-digit strikeout game. He also struck out 10 batters for High-A Great Lakes on June 14, 2023.

Triple-A Oklahoma City

OKC lost a low-scoring affair to the Albuquerque Isotopes (Rockies).

Ryan Ward homered for Oklahoma City’s only run, and had to of the team’s five hits. Austin Gauthier doubled and singled. James Outman doubled.

Left-hander Matt Gage struck out all three hitters he faced in a perfect seventh inning of relief.

Double-A Tulsa

The Drillers allowed two runs in the seventh inning that proved decisive in a loss to the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (Royals).

Jose Ramos and Austin Beck each hit solo home runs, but that accounted for all of Tulsa’s scoring. Dalton Rushing (as designated hitter) and Diego Cartaya each homered.

High-A Great Lakes

After rain postponed Friday’s game in Great Lakes, the start of Saturday’s game was delayed by 57 minutes, then rain came again which shortened this one to a seven-inning Loons win over the Quad Cities River Bandits (Royals).

Chris Newell’s two-run home run in the sixth inning was the game-winner, his 19th of the season to lead the Midwest League.

Chris Campos went six strong innings for the win, allowing only one run with four strikeouts.

These two teams will attempt a doubleheader to finish off the series on Sunday. Weather permitting, of course.

Low-A Rancho Cucamonga

Singles by Wilman Diaz and Kendall George brought home the free runner in the 10th inning to give the Quakes a walk-off win over the Inland Empire 66ers (Angels).

George’s hit was his fourth of the game, and he also stole a base and scored twice.

Left fielder Jose Meza hit his first Low-A home run in his fourth game with Rancho Cucamonga.

Arizona Complex League

Sterling Patick, the Dodgers’ 18th-round draft pick in 2023 out of South Hills High School in West Covina, made his professional debut on Saturday. He started and allowed five of his seven batters faced to score, allowing two doubles and a single, plus a walk, a hit batter, and a wild pitch, and one strikeout.
