Sunday in the Dodgers minors featured a few strong pitching outings and a wild game in Rancho Cucamonga.
Player of the day
Jackson Ferris struck out eight in a career-high six innings scoreless in the second game of Great Lakes’ doubleheader on Sunday, continuing his solid run this month.

Two of Ferris’ last three starts are scoreless, and he struck out at least eight in three of his last four games.
It was the second start this season (and in his career) on four days rest, and he hasn’t allowed an earned run in either game. Back on April 24, also in a doubleheader, he struck out six in a more abbreviated four-inning, allowing a pair of unearned runs.
The 20-year-old Ferris, who was acquired along with Rancho Cucamonga outfielder Zyhir Hope from the Cubs in January for Michael Busch and Yency Almonte, has progressed nicely deeper into the season, including a 2.11 ERA in four June starts.

Triple-A Oklahoma City
Andre Lipcius homered, doubled, and singled, driving in four runs in Oklahoma City’s win over the Albuquerque Isotopes (Rockies).
Ryan Ward also homered for OKC, his 20th of the season.
Christian Romero was called up from Great Lakes for an abbreviated spot start in Oklahoma City. It was the second such spot start for the 21-year-old in Triple-A this season, having also started for OKC on May 17. Romero got through five innings, pitching on only three days rest after pitching two scoreless innings on Wednesday for the Loons. He allowed three runs, only two earned, to get the win.
Double-A Tulsa
The Drillers fought back from down four runs at one point to tie the game in the seventh, but lost the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (Royals) in the bottom of the ninth.
Ben Harris walked his first two batters of the ninth, followed by a sacrifice bunt and sacrifice fly for the walk-off loss.
Yeiner Fernandez had three hits and a stolen base for the Loons, including a double. Griffin Lockwood-Powell homered. Taylor Young had a two-run triple.
High-A Great Lakes
The Loons scored only two runs in two games, but thanks to some good distribution were able to finagle a doubleheader split with the Quad Cities River Bandits (Royals).
In the first game on Sunday, Payton Martin struck out six in his four innings, allowing only two unearned runs on four hits and two walks. Kyle Nevin homered.
In Game 2, the seven-inning contest was still scoreless into the bottom of the eighth, thanks in large part to Ferris when a two-out passed ball allowed the winning run to score.

Low-A Rancho Cucamonga
The Quakes led by six runs after four innings but by the seventh the game was tied. Sunday needed 10 innings to complete, and Rancho Cucamonga scored its second straight extra-inning walk-off win over the Inland Empire 66ers (Angels).
Down a run with two outs in the 10th, left fielder Juan Alonso’s second hit of the day scored the free runner, which was conveniently the speedy Kendall George pinch-running. Then catcher Jesus Galiz hit his second double of the game to bring home Alonso with the game-winner.
Shortstop Wilman Diaz homered twice and drove in three runs.
Luke Fox, the Dodgers’ 17th-round draft pick from 2023, allowed two runs, including a home run, in the first inning of his Quakes debut. But he recovered to pitch a scoreless second inning and struck out three on the day.
