Injuries have been prevalent throughout the majors in 2021, and the Dodgers were no exception. Over half of the opening day active roster spent at least some time on the injured list this season.
The proliferation of injuries had the Dodgers more active than usual in trying to upgrade the fringes of the roster, including acquiring Albert Pujols, Yoshi Tsutsugo, and Nate Jones, to name a few, who were cast off from their former teams.
“We fully get that injuries are a part of the game. It’s more been the concentration of them that we were definitely not as prepared for as I would have liked,” Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman said in May, when Pujols was signed.
In all, the Dodgers used 61 different players in major league games this season and had 36 different players spend time on the injured list. Both are franchise records.
With so many players hurt, we used this post to keep track of who was available and who wasn’t at any given moment. The Dodgers lost just shy of 1,800 player games during injured list stints.
