The Solar Sox didn't put any Dodger prospects in their starting lineup on Wednesday, and they were punished with a 11 - 3 defeat to Salt River. The Rafters jumped out to an early 4 run lead against Mesa starter Mike Wright of the Orioles organization thanks to homers by Matt Davidson (Dbacks) and Matt Skole (Nationals), then tacked on several more against a trio of relievers. In the 6th Chris Reed entered the game and showed a little rust as he hit the first batter he faced, but after than he got the next 3 hitters on two fly outs and a line out. Red Patterson picked up in the 7th and he started with a strikeout, but an error and a walk later he was in a bit of a jam. Luckily he escaped trouble by inducing a ground out.
As I mentioned no Dodgers players were in the lineup for Mesa, and the only one to even make it to the dish was Griff Erickson who struck out in his only plate appearance. All of the Solar Sox runs were generated by a triple and a homer by Jonathan Singleton (Astros). One of Phil's favorites, Nick Castellanos (Tigers) had the only multi-hit game for Mesa.
Coming up: Mesa will look for their first win on Thursday as they play the Surprise Saguaros. Cub farmhand Dae-Eun Rhee gets the start for the Solar Sox, and they will face Seth Blair of the Cardinals' organization.
