The streaking Solar Sox won their 3rd straight game on Saturday as they defeated the Desert Dogs 8 to 3. Only two Dodger prospects played in this game and neither contributed to the victory, but it was a win nonetheless. Joc Pederson was moved to the bottom of the batting order and responded with a pair of walks, but he still remains hitless as he finished the game 0 for 2. Griff Erickson entered the contest late as a defensive replacement, but he grounded out in his only at bat.
Mesa starter Luke Putkonen (Tigers) allowed a pair of runs in the 2nd inning and reliever Nick Struck (Cubs) gave up a run in the 4th, but besides that the Solar Sox bullpen was brilliant. Five different relievers combined for 5 shutout frames, and in total they only allowed 3 hits to finish off the victory.
At the dish the teams' big hitters in Jaiver Baez (Cubs) and Jonathan Singleton (Astros) both homered and combined for 5 RBI's, while George Springer (Astros) also contributed with a single, a double, and 2 RBI's. That pretty much rounds out the offensive as Rubi Silva (Cubs) was the only otther player who had a hit in this game.
Coming up: The AFL doesn't play on Sunday, so there isn't much to preview here. However I will have a Fall/Winter league recap tomorrow that will look at all the Dodger players participating in an off-season league so far.
