Arizona Fall League Thursday recap: Rafael Ynoa extends hitting streak to 12 games in Mesa loss

Rafael Ynoa was the only Dodgers position player to play on Thursday for the Mesa Solar Sox, and the infielder continued his romp through the Arizona Fall League. Ynoa doubled in the eighth inning to extend his hitting streak to 12 games, but the Solar Sox dropped their ninth straight decision, 8-2 to the Peoria Javelinas.

Mesa is 0-9-1 in their last 10 games, and the Solar Sox haven't won a game since Oct. 13.

Ynoa's double was his second of the AFL, to go along with two triples and two home runs. He is hitting .357/.396/.643 in 12 games, with nine runs batted in. Ynoa played second base and batted ninth, and managed to get only three at-bats because Mesa was limited to just four hits and two walks, including one hit in the first seven innings.

Reds pitcher and Peoria starter Tim Crabbe allowed no hits in his four innings of work.

After Chris Reed retired the only two batters he faced, a pop out and ground ball to end the seventh inning, the game was tied at 1-1 through seven innings. For Reed, it was his first scoreless outing since Oct. 12.

Red Patterson replaced Reed to open the eighth inning, and the game quickly became untied. Patterson faced six batters, but only recorded one out. After a hit-by-pitch to open the frame, Mariners infielder Nick Franklin too Patterson deep to right field. Padres first baseman Nate Freiman followed with a ground-rule double to center. After a ground out, Patterson allowed a single and walk to load the bases and was lifted. Freiman scored on a sacrifice fly, charging a third run to Patterson's ledger.

Patterson (0-1) took the loss.
