The Dodgers have sent nine players to play for the Mesa Solar Sox in the 2012 Arizona Fall League, which begins play on Tuesday, Oct. 9. Former Dodgers pitcher Matt Herges, now the pitching coach for their Class A affiliate in Rancho Cucamonga, is the pitching coach for the Solar Sox.
The roster is highlighted by Cuban outfielder Yasiel Puig, who signed a seven-year, $42 million contract with the Dodgers on June 29, outfielder Joc Pederson, who was named the 2012 organizational player of the year, and by left-handed pitcher Chris Reed, the Dodgers' first round draft pick in 2011.
