After winning four straight, the Solar Sox have now dropped three in a row after a 8 - 2 loss to the Scorpions. In their second to last game of the season Mesa managed just 6 hits, with just one of them going for extra bases. In fact the Solar Sox were shutout for the first 8 innings before they finally staged a mini rally in the 9th to plate a pair of runs.
All three Dodger offensive players on Mesa were in Wednesday's starting lineup, but they combined to go just 2 for 10 with a couple of singles. Griff Erickson had one of the hits but also made an errant throw from behind the plate, while Rafael Ynoa had the other base knock but was thrown out trying to steal. Joc Pederson was the odd man out as he was once again held hitless to put his batting average an an even .100.
Mesa starter Mike Wright (Orioles) fell to 0 - 5 on the season after allowing 3 runs over 4 frames, while relievers Tony Zych (Cubs) and Chris Petrini (Orioles) allowed the final 5 runs of the game out of the bullpen. No Dodger pitchers threw in this game.
Coming up: Mesa will play their final game of the AFL season tomorrow and will face fellow last place team Phoenix. The Solar Sox will send Jarred Cosart (Astros) to the mound and the Desert Dogs will start Zeke Spruill (Braves).
