AFL 11/5/12 recap: Mesa wins with just 3 hits

Joc Pederson and Rafael Ynoa combine to go 0 for 7

The Solar Sox came behind to win 5 - 4 on Monday by plating 4 runs in the 7th despite collecting just 2 hits in the frame. Scottsdale issued 4 walks in that fateful inning, and Jonathan Schoop (Orioles) took advantage of a bases loaded situation to drive in the winning runs.

The two Dodgers in the lineup did not join in the fun as Joc Pederson and Rafael Ynoa were held hitless. Pederson's struggles really continued as he saw his batting average fall to .083 with an 0 for 4 performance, and his OPS is a paltry .238. Ynoa get on base once via a walk, but his hot start has lost a little steam as his OPS over his last 10 games is .792.

Mesa starter Dae-Eun Rhee (Cubs) got through the first three innings without issue, but he ran into some trouble in the 4th and allowed 2 runs. Chris Reed, the only Dodger pitcher to throw on Monday, took over in the 5th and the good news is that for the 3rd outing in a row he struck out a pair of batters. The bad news, however, is that he did give up another run on two hits and a walk.

After the Solar Sox rallied Nick Struck (Cubs) picked up the win with a pair of hitless innings, and Chia-Jen Lo recorded the save despite allowing a run.
