AFL 11/7/12 recap: Mesa wins their 7th game of the season

Rafael Ynoa singles and Eric Eadington tosses 1.1 scoreless innings in a slow day for Dodger prospects

It took them almost a month, but Mesa has finally reached lucky win number 7 with their 4 - 3 victory over Scottsdale. Solar Sox starter Luke Putkonen (Tigers) was the star of this one as he blanked the Scorpions for 4 innings while allowing just 4 singles. A couple of relievers gave up a trio of runs over the next two frames, but luckily Mesa had built an early 4 run lead and were able to shut down the opposition over the final 3 innings.

Eric Eadington was the only Dodger to throw in this one, and he was one of the good bullpen arms as he allowed just a hit and a walk in his 1.1 innings of work. Chia-Jen Lo (Astros) picked up the save, but not before having to escape a 2-on, 2-out jam.

At the plate Matt Szczur (Cubs) did most of the damage for Mesa as he went 2 for 3 with a triple and 2 RBI's. No other Solar Sox player had an extra base hit, although Rafael Ynoa did reach base twice via a single and a walk. Griff Erickson was the only other Dodger in the lineup and he saw his average drop to .242 by going 0 for 4 with a strikeout.

Wednesday Solar Sox Box Score

Coming up: Mesa takes on the Desert Dogs tomorrow at home, and the Solar Sox will send Jarred Cosart (Astros) to the mound for his 5th AFL start. Phoenix will counter with Brian Flynn of the Marlins organization.
