The Desert Dogs downed the Scorpions 5 - 1 on Friday in a game that featured just two Dodger prospects. Catcher Pratt Maynard was the only Dodger in the lineup and he went 1 for 3 with a run scored. Teammate Eddie Rosario (Twins) drove in 3 of the 5 runs with a couple of base knocks, while Brandon Jacobs (White Sox) solo shot was the only homer of the game.
On the mound starter Andrew Heaney (Marlins) was excellent as he stuck out 6 over his 3 shutout innings. Once he left the game six different relievers threw an inning each, including Jarret Martin who was making his second appearance of the AFL season. Martin started the frame by allowing a leadoff single, but that runner was quickly erased on a double play. After permitting another double Jarret got out of the inning without any damage by inducing another ground out.
Coming up: The AFL is off for the next two days, meaning their next game will be on Monday. While it's still a ways off, Alex Myers (Twins) is supposed to start for the Desert Dogs while Kyle Hunter (Mariners) will throw for their opponent, the Javelinas.
