AFL 10/21/13 recap: Glendale bats fall silent again

A couple of days after getting 3-hit, the Desert Dog offense managers just 5 singles on Monday

After starting the season with a hot offense, the Glendale bats have cooled down of late as the Desert Dogs fell to the Scorpions 5 to 1 on Monday. The game was especially tough for Dodger prospect Corey Seager as he came to the plate three different times with runners on base, but he went 0 for 4 with 2 strikeouts and grounded into a double play to strand all 5 runners. Seager was the only Dodger position player to participate in this game, but the rest of the offense didn't do much better as the club was held without an extra base hit in the contest.

On the mound starter Michael Lorenzen (Reds) took the loss after allowing 8 hits and 4 runs over just 3.2 innings of work, ballooning his ERA to 13.03. Pedro Baez then entered the game and while he got into some trouble of his own, he managed to wiggle his way out of a couple of jams as he left the bases loaded at the end of both innings he pitched. Despite the trouble he had on Monday Baez has yet to allow a run so far this season. Later in the game Mike Thomas came into pitch, looking to rebound from a couple of rough outings. Luckily he was able to do just that as tossed a perfect 7th, striking out the side in the process.
