AFL 10/22/13 recap: Desert Dog hitting woes continue

New, 36 comments

A homer by Brian Cavazos-Galvez was just one of two hits for Glendale on Tuesday

The Glendale bats stayed ice cold on Tuesday as the Desert Dogs fell to the Scorpions 5 to 1. With just 10 hits over their last three games, Glendale has now lost 4 straight and have fallen out of first place. In this game the club managed just two base knocks, although one of them was a solo homer by Dodger minor leaguer Brian Cavazos-Galvez. The other was a single by Jared Mitchell (White Sox), and overall that wasn't enough for the win.

Corey Seager was in the lineup again but he continued to struggle as he went 0 for 3 with a walk and a strikeout. His average is now down to .192 and his OPS is at .535. Catcher Chris O'Brien also had another poor game as he matched Seager's stat line at the plate and now has just 1 hit in 16 at bats.

No Dodger pitchers threw in this game, but 6 other hurlers did including starter Andrew Heaney (Marlins) who actually threw pretty well as he allowed a run and 3 hits over 4 frames. Charlie Leesman (White Sox) gave up his first runs of the season and took the loss in relief, while Zack Jones (Twins) permitted the final runs of the game in the 9th.

Coming up: Alex Meyer (Twins) makes his fourth start of the season for the Desert Dogs as Glendale takes on Johnny Barbato (Padres) and the Javelinas.
