The Desert Dogs were down by 4 heading into the 8th inning on Wednesday, but Glendale rallied for 6 runs over the final two frames to come away with a 6 - 4 victory over the Solar Sox. Top Dodger prospect Corey Seager was one of the game's hero's as it was his grand slam in the top of the 8th that tied the game. Prior to the long ball Seager had been struggling badly, so the heroics are a great sign. Corey had also been profiled earlier in the day here.
After the Seager slam the game was still tied, so Jared Mitchell (White Sox) took matters into his own hands in the 9th and hit the eventual game winning 2-run homer. Brandon Jacobs (White Sox) was the only other Glendale player to get an extra base hit as he went 2 for 5 with a double, while Chris O'Brien and Pratt Maynard combined to go 1 for 6 with a couple of walks.
On the mound starter Michael Lorenzen (Reds) continued to struggle as he allowed 3 runs in 3 innings, then Jarret Martin permitted the 4th run of the game in the 5th on a solo jack. Yimi Garcia tossed a 1-2-3 seventh inning to lower his ERA to 2.59, while Nick Wittgren (Marlins) struck out the side in the 9th for his second save.
