After tallying all the votes for the final 5 spots on the 2013 Dodgers prospect list, I counted 18 different players who received at least some recognition. But when it was all said and done it was James Baldwin, Julio Urias, Ross Stripling, Scott Van Slyke, and Alex Santana who were named prospects #16 - 20. I'll have a complete list below, but before I do I wanted to break down the players in a few different ways.
We have 9 hitters and 11 pitchers in our top 20, with 4 of the hurlers being left handed. Of the 9 position players 5 are outfielders, 3 are infielders, and 1 is a catcher.
The average age of our top 20 prospects is 21.9 years old, with Julio Urias the youngest at 16, and Scott Van Slyke just beating out Alex Castellanos as the oldest, although they are both 26.
In terms of how the players were acquired, 2 were international signees (Urias and Yasiel Puig), two were traded for (Castellanos and Tim Federowicz), and the rest were drafted. The 2012 draft class seemed to be a community favorite as we selected 6 players from there in our top 20, then we had 2 from the 2011 draft, 3 from 2010, 2 from 2009, and one each from 2008, 2007, and 2005.
