Dodgers offseason roster moves 2017-2018

Every transaction from the end of the 2017 season through the start of spring training in 2018

Keep track of every transaction by the Dodgers this offseason, every move that involves the Dodgers’ 40-man roster from the end of the 2017 season through the beginning of spring training in 2018. This will be updated throughout the offseason.

Nov. 2: Pitchers Yu Darvish, Brandon Morrow and Tony Watson, second baseman Chase Utley, and outfielders Curtis Granderson and Franklin Gutierrez all became free agents.

Nov. 5: The Dodgers declined the $17.5 million 2018 club option for Andre Ethier, instead paying him a $2.5 million buyout.

Nov. 6: The Dodgers exercised the $9 million 2018 club option for Logan Forsythe. First baseman/outfielder O’Koyea Dickson was sent outright to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Nov. 20: Pitchers Dennis Santana and Trevor Oaks were added to the 40-man roster.

Nov. 20: Pitcher Grant Dayton was claimed off waivers by the Braves. Pitcher Josh Ravin was designated for assignment, then traded to the Braves for cash considerations.

Dec. 1: Pitcher Yimi Garcia signed a 1-year, $630,000 deal, avoiding salary arbitration.

Dec. 16: The Dodgers traded Adrian Gonzalez, Scott Kazmir, Brandon McCarthy, Charlie Culberson and a reported $4.5 million to the Braves for Matt Kemp.

Dec. 20: Free agent pitcher Tom Koehler signed a 1-year, $2 million contract.

Dec. 22: Left-handed pitcher Henry Owens was claimed off waivers from the Diamondbacks.

Jan. 2: Right-handed pitcher Dylan Baker was acquired from the Brewers for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

Jan. 4: Acquired left-handed pitcher Scott Alexander from the Royals and minor league infielder Jake Peter from the White Sox in exchange for Luis Avilan and $2 million (to Chicago), Trevor Oaks and Erick Mejia (both to Kansas City). The White Sox also received Joakim Soria and $1 million from the Royals in the deal.

Jan. 11: Catcher Yasmani Grandal avoided salary arbitration with a 1-year, $7.9 million contract.

Jan. 11: Pitcher Pedro Baez avoided salary arbitration with a 1-year, $1.5 million deal.

Jan. 12: Pitcher Josh Fields avoided salary arbitration with a 1-year, $2.2 million deal.

Jan. 12: Outfielder/infielder Kiké Hernandez agreed to a 1-year, $1.6 million deal, avoiding salary arbitration.

Jan. 12: Pitcher Tony Cingrani avoided salary arbitration with a 1-year, $2.3 million deal.

Jan. 12: Pitcher Alex Wood signed a 1-year, $6 million deal, avoiding salary arbitration.

Jan. 12: Outfielder Joc Pederson avoided arbitration with a 1-year, $2.6 million deal.

Feb. 17: Second baseman Chase Utley signed a 2-year, $2 million deal.

Feb. 23: Claimed right-handed pitcher J.T. Chargois off waivers from the Twins. To make room on the 40-man roster, pitcher Julio Urias was placed on the 60-day disabled list.
