For the eighth straight pick to begin the draft, the Dodgers selected a pitcher. In the ninth round with the 282nd overall pick, they selected left-handed pitcher Lael Lockhart out of Arkansas.
Prior to Arkansas, Lockhart was an outfielder and first baseman for the Houston Cougars, while also pitching. He transferred to the Razorbacks in 2021 when he focused solely on pitching. Last season he went 4-4 with a 4.47 ERA. In 58 1⁄3 innings he struck out 68 and issued 17 walks.
