Alex Wood didn’t get a decision, but he was stellar for seven innings on Tuesday. | Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Bruised but not battered, a hit by pitch scored the go-ahead run to start a five-run rally in the eighth inning that gave the Dodgers a 6-1 win over the White Sox on Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium.

The win put the Dodgers at 50 games over .500 (84-34) for the first time in franchise history since 1953, and the victory gave the Dodgers 50 home wins for a third straight season for the first time ever.

Batting with the bases loaded and two outs in the eighth inning, mired in a 1-for-38 slump that dropped him to eighth in the batting order, Joc Pederson was hit by a pitch from Jake Petricka to force home Yasmani Grandal, giving the Dodgers their first lead of the game at 2-1.

But that was just the start of the scoring, with Austin Barnes and Corey Seager each adding two-run singles to blow open what was a close pitching duel.

Barnes’ single was his team-leading seventh pinch hit of the season. He is 7-for-22 (.318) with two doubles and five RBI as a pinch hitter this season.

Brandon Morrow picked up his fifth win of the season by inducing three harmless ground balls against the heart of the White Sox order in a tie game in the top of the eighth.

Wood stingy again

Tim Anderson hit the first pitch from Alex Wood over the wall in left center field for a quick 1-0 lead for the White Sox. It was the fifth leadoff home run allowed by the Dodgers this season — A.J. Pollock, Curtis Granderson (twice), and Michael Conforto were the others — but the only one on the first pitch.

But that was pretty much it against Wood, who struck out six and allowed just five more hits the rest of the way. The final hit was a leadoff double by Leury Garcia in the seventh inning in a 1-1 tie. After Garcia advanced to third base on a ground ball, Wood induced one more ground out and then struck out pinch hitter Alen Hanson to strand the go-ahead run.

Wood was very efficient, needing just 79 pitches in his seven frames, but was done after the seventh because his spot in the batting order came up in the bottom of the inning. Wood, who lowered his ERA to 2.30 -- which would rank third in the National League -- is getting closer to qualifying for the leaderboard, now at 117⅓ innings through 118 team games.

More of the same

After playing pepper with the warning track in the first few innings -- Pederson twice, Grandal, and Puig all made loud outs -- the Dodgers finally broke through against Miguel Gonzalez in the sixth inning.

Cody Bellinger and Grandal singled with one out, followed by a four-pitch walk to Puig, then Logan Forsythe cashed in the tying run with a sacrifice fly to right field to score Bellinger, though Grandal ended the threat of a bigger inning by getting caught between second and third base.

Bellinger, who also walked twice on Tuesday, has eight hits and four walks in 17 plate appearances over his last four games.

Gonzalez, who allowed just one run and five hits in six innings to the Dodgers on July 18 in Chicago, allowed just one run and five hits in six innings again on Tuesday night in Los Angeles. He suffered the tough-luck 1-0 loss back in July, but on this night was left with a no-decision.

Doubling up

Seager doubled in the third inning, his 30th of the season after hitting 40 doubles as a rookie in 2016. Seager, on pace for 41 doubles, joins former Brooklyn outfielder Pete Reiser as the only Dodgers with a pair of 30-double seasons through their age-23 season.

Up next

Yu Darvish makes his Dodger Stadium debut on Wednesday night in the series and homestand finale, with lefty Carlos Rodon pitching for the White Sox, a 7:10 p.m. PT start.

Just two days and one game after saying he wasn’t likely to change the lineup, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts shuffled the deck a bit before Tuesday’s series opener against the White Sox.

Yasiel Puig, who has started in the eighth spot 56 times this season, is batting sixth on Tuesday, with Joc Pederson -- in a 1-for-35 slump -- is hitting eighth. Puig in the last 38 games batted higher than eighth just four times — batting seventh three times, and sixth once.

Puig is hitting .278/.362/.546 with 14 home runs out of the eighth spot this season, and on Sunday Roberts noted how much he thrived in that spot, even saying, “It’s not something that hasn’t crossed my mind but right now I’m not prepared to move Yasiel.”

Two days later, that changed.

Well rested

The Dodgers have made sure to rest players whenever possible throughout the season, such that Puig (111 games played out of 117) and Corey Seager (108 games) are the only two players can even reach 150 games* played in 2017.

*Another quirk is that Kiké Hernandez is third on the team with 103 games played, though just 56 of them are starts.

Since the All-Star break, that rest has been built into the schedule, with five off days in the last 32 days, plus another off day coming Thursday. As such, the club has been able to rely on its main four hitters over the last month.

Cody Bellinger starts his 31st consecutive game on Tuesday, Seager starts his 28th consecutive game, Chris Taylor starts his 20th straight, and Justin Turner starts his 11th straight and 19th of the last 20 games.

Sox transaction

With reliever Tyler Clippard traded to the Astros on Sunday night, the White Sox filled their open active roster spot by reinstating pitcher Dylan Covey from the disabled list on Tuesday. Covey was a Rule 5 pick from Oakland in December, and started the season in Chicago’s rotation, putting up an 8.12 ERA in eight starts. the right-hander has been sidelined since May.

Dodgers now carrying 12 position players, 13 pitchers on active roster.

LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers on Tuesday traded pitcher Chris Hatcher to the Athletics for international amateur bonus pool space, and activated corner man Rob Segedin from the 60-day disabled list.

The move bolsters the Dodgers bench, after playing Sunday with just three players in reserve in the series finale against the Padres. The club is now carrying 13 pitchers instead of the 14 they had on the roster on Sunday.

Segedin during his rehab assignment was 10-for-30 (.333) with three doubles and two walks in eight games in Triple-A. His rehab assignment lasted a total of 16 days, including a pair of games in the Arizona League before joining Oklahoma City.

Segedin was sidelined over three months, first with turf toe suffered in April, then had surgery on May 31 to remove bone spurs from his right wrist.

This transaction adds Segedin back to the 40-man roster. The Dodgers had an open spot on the roster after pitcher Luke Farrell was claimed off waivers by the Reds on Wednesday. With Hatcher traded, the club still has an open spot on the 40-man roster, likely to be filled by as soon as this weekend when Adrian Gonzalez is activated from the 60-day DL.

Segedin has played in just two major league games this season, going 1-for-4 with a run scored.

Hatcher was just activated off the disabled list on Sunday, after missing nearly two months with thoracic inflammation. He last pitched on June 22.

In three seasons with the Dodgers, Hatcher posted a 4.64 ERA and 4.30 FIP in 112 games, with 131 strikeouts and 46 walks in 116⅔ innings, including a 4.66 ERA in 26 appearances in 2017.

The Dodgers received $500,000 in bonus pool space from the A’s. This is the second trade in which the Dodgers added international bonus pool space. The club also traded minor league pitcher Jason Wheeler to the Orioles on July 2.

The Dodgers’ original spending limit for the 2017-18 international signing period, which runs from July 2, 2017 to June 15, 2018, was $4.75 million, with an individual limit of no more than $300,000 per player. Per the collective bargaining agreement, the Dodgers are allowed to trade for up to 75 percent of their original bonus pool, or $3.5625 million.

LA has 114 wins in their last 162 home games

The Dodgers take a nine-game interleague winning streak into their two-game series against the White Sox beginning on Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium. But there is another milestone in play as well, given the Dodgers’ unprecedented home success of late.

Entering Tuesday, the Dodgers are 49-14 at Dodger Stadium in 2017, on pace to finish with 63 home wins, one shy of the National League record set by the Big Red Machine in 1975 (64-17).

The modern club franchise home record is 60-17 (.779), set by Brooklyn in 1953. A win on Tuesday against Chicago would give the Dodgers a .781 winning percentage at Chavez Ravine in 2017.

The Dodgers tied for the best home record in baseball in 2015 (55-26), and tied for second-best in 2016 (53-28). With one more home victory this season -- they have 18 tries to get it done — the Dodgers will win 50 games at home in three straight seasons for the first time in franchise history.

Since the start of 2015, the Dodgers are 157-68 (.698) at Dodger Stadium.

There is a bit of a caveat here, with shorter schedules in the Brooklyn era. In 1945, the Dodgers were 48-30 in home games, a .615 winning percentage that translates into 49.85 wins in 81 home games. That was followed up with a 56-22 mark at Ebbets Field in 1946, and 52-25 at home in 1947, roughly the equivalent of three straight 50-win seasons, just without hitting the number.

Alex Wood starts Tuesday for the Dodgers, having allowed three runs over 12 innings in his last two starts. Wood at 14-1 is currently tied with reliever Phil Regan (1966) for the best single-season winning percentage (.933) in Dodgers history.

The Dodgers face Miguel Gonzalez for a second time this season. They put 11 runners on base against him in six innings in Chicago on July 18, but managed only one run, which happened to be enough for Clayton Kershaw, et al. on that night.

The 33-year-old Gonzalez, who played prep baseball at San Fernando High School then went to Los Angeles Mission College in Sylmar, has never pitched in the majors at Dodger Stadium.

The White Sox have lost 25 of their last 33 games, including 12 losses in their last 14 road contests.

The Dodgers conclude their homestand with a pair of games against the Chicago White Sox, part of a quick five-game stretch of interleague games to finish off the American League portion of the club’s schedule this season. To date, this has been the best interleague season for the Dodgers since the practice began in 1997.

After these two games against the Sox and an off day for travel, the Dodgers open a seven-game road trip with three games in Detroit against the Tigers.

So far, the Dodgers are 12-3 against American League teams in 2017, the most interleague wins in the majors. The 12 interleague wins match a Dodgers record, set also in 2002 (12-6) and 2013 (12-8).

The Dodgers have won their last nine games against American League teams -- dating back to June 29 in Anaheim — their longest streak since interleague play began in 1997. The previous longest win streak was eight consecutive victories in 2003.

Historically the Dodgers haven’t fared all that well on the road in interleague play — their record is 72-105 (.407), compared to 98-74 (.570) at home — but haven’t had a losing overall record against the AL since 2012. From 2013-16, the Dodgers were 43-37, but this year has been a whole new level.

At home, the Dodgers are 7-1 against American League teams, with sweeps against the Royals and Twins and a two-game split against the Angels. At Dodger Stadium, the Dodgers have outscored the AL 36-22 this season.

The club record for home interleague wins is eight, set in 2015.

On the road, the Dodgers are 5-2 in interleague play, winning two of three in Cleveland, sweeping two in Chicago, and splitting two in Anaheim. They have outscored AL opponents on the road 36-27.

The Dodgers record for road interleague wins is seven, set in 2014.

The Dodgers’ batting leaders in interleague play this season:

Yasiel Puig: 20-for-53 (.377/.377/.679), 4 home runs, 2 doubles

Cody Bellinger: 13-for-50 (.260/.413/.620), 5 home runs, 12 RBI, 3 doubles, 13 walks
