The last Dodgers pitcher to win his next start immediately following his no-hitter was Sandy Koufax in 1964.

Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw makes his first start since his no-hitter, looking to join Johnny Vandeer Meer, who 76 years ago was the only major league pitcher to throw no-hitters in back-to-back starts.

No team has thrown more no-hitters than the 22 tossed by the Dodgers, so we have a lot of games with which to see how Dodgers pitchers did in their first start after throwing a no-hitter. Of the first 21 no-hitters thrown by the Dodgers, 18 have been since 1914, the earliest year for which there are full game logs.

Beginning with Dazzy Vance in 1925 and ending with Josh Beckett in 2014, here are the Dodgers' no-hit pitchers and their very next start after the no-hitter.

LOS ANGELES -- In perhaps the easiest call of the year, Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw was named National League Player of the Week on Monday. Kershaw pitched a no-hitter on Wednesday to beat the Rockies.

Kershaw needed just 107 pitches to no-hit the Rockies, striking out 15 and walking none. The only runner to reach base in the game was Corey Dickerson, who reached on a throwing error by Hanley Ramirez in the seventh inning. Kershaw's 15 strikeouts were tied for the third-most strikeouts in a no-hitter, trailing only Nolan Ryan.

Kershaw is the third Dodgers player to win NL Player of the Week honors this season. Fellow no-hit artist Josh Beckett was co-Player of the Week for the week of May 19-25, and Yasiel Puig was co-Player of the Week from May 12-18.

The last time the Dodgers had three Player of the Week winners in one season was 2012, with Matt Kemp winning twice and Kershaw once. The last season the Dodgers had more POTW winners was 2000, with Gary Sheffield (twice), Adrian Beltre and Chan Ho Park taking home the honors.

This is the fourth time Kershaw has won NL Player of the Week honors, along with June 20-26, 2011, May 14-20, 2012 and April 1-7, 2013. The only other Dodgers pitchers to win the award four times are Fernando Valenzuela (five times) and Orel Hershiser.

Kershaw might be on his way to his third NL Pitcher of the Month honor, 4-0 with a 1.24 ERA so far in June, with 40 strikeouts and just one walk in 29 innings.

LOS ANGELES -- Clayton Kershaw pitched one of the most dominant games in baseball history on Wednesday night with his 15-strikeout no-hitter to complete the Dodgers' sweep of the Rockies. Here is a look at some of the more remarkable numbers surrounding the milestone achievement.

Kershaw was 26 years, 91 days old on Wednesday. Sandy Koufax when he threw the first of his four no-hitters, on June 30, 1962 against the Mets, was 26 years, 182 days old.

The only pitcher to strikeout more than Kershaw (15) in a no-hitter is Nolan Ryan, who struck out 17 Tigers on July 15, 1973 and struck out 16 Blue Jays on May 1, 1991.

Kershaw is the only pitcher ever to strikeout 15 in a game while allowing no hits and no walks.

The Dodgers have 22 no-hitters, more than any other franchise in baseball, including 12 in Los Angeles.

Kershaw's game score (a fun stat invented by Bill James as a quick and dirty look at starting pitcher effectiveness) of 102 is the second-highest in a nine-inning game, trailing only Kerry Wood's 20-strikeout one-hitter on May 6, 1998.

Among his 28 batters faced, Kershaw had one three-ball count, to Josh Rutledge in the second inning. Rutledge grounded out to second base.

Kershaw's 15-strikeout, no-walk game is just the second by a Dodgers pitcher dating back to 1914, joining Van Lingle Mungo on Sept. 29, 1935 against the Phillies.

The last major league pitcher with 15 strikeouts and no walks in a game was James Shields, then of the Rays, on Oct. 2, 2012.

Shields, with 106 pitches, was the last pitcher to strikeout 15 in a complete game in under 110 pitches. Kershaw needed only 107 pitches on Wednesday.

Only three Rockies hit a ball out of the infield on Wednesday night: Brandon Barnes flew out to Scott Van Slyke in center field in the first inning, Troy Tulowitzki flew out to Matt Kemp in left in the fourth, and Charlie Culberson flew out to Yasiel Puig in right field in the ninth.

Koufax has the only perfect game in Dodgers history, on Sept. 9, 1965 against the Cubs, but Kershaw's outing was the fourth complete game by a Dodger with no hits and no walks allowed. Bill Singer no-hit the Phillies on July 20, 1970 with his only baserunner a hit by pitch. Jerry Reuss no-hit the Giants on June 27, 1980 and like Kershaw, his only runner was on an error by the shortstop.

From Dave Cameron at FanGraphs: "His FIP for the game was -0.24, because the model isn’t designed to handle dominance at this level. His xFIP was 0.19."

The Dodgers have the only two no-hitters in the majors this season, with Kershaw and Josh Beckett. The last major league team with two pitchers to throw no-hitters in the same season was the 1972 Cubs (Burt Hooton and Milt Pappas).

The only other Dodgers team to through multiple no-hitters in the same season was the 1956 Brooklyn squad, with Carl Erskine no-hitting the Giants and Sal Maglie the Phillies.

Wednesday was Kershaw's 13th career complete game and eighth career shutout.

Entering this season, Kershaw had seven career starts with nine or more strikeouts and no walks, tied for third-most in baseball from 2010-2013. This year, he already has five such games, in 10 starts.

In June, Kershaw has made four starts, he has four wins, has allowed four runs and has 40 strikeouts with just one walk.

The Dodgers have lopped off 5½ games in 10 days, and now trail the Giants by four games in the National League West.

LOS ANGELES -- Clayton Kershaw painted his masterpiece on Wednesday night, throwing his first no-hitter in leading the Dodgers to an 8-0 shutout and a sweep of the Rockies at Dodger Stadium.

It was the second no-hitter by a Dodger this season, joining teammate Josh Beckett, who no-hit the Phillies on May 25 in Philadelphia.

In the 192nd start of Kershaw's brilliant career, he struck out 15 and walked none. The strikeouts set a new career high for Kershaw, who has an absurd 86 strikeouts against only eight walks all season.

The only runner to reach base against Kershaw did so by error, an errant throw by Hanley Ramirez to lead off the seventh inning, allowing Corey Dickerson to reach. But that was but a speed bump for Kershaw, who stranded him at third and won his fourth straight start.

The no-hitter is the 22nd by a Dodgers pitcher, the most by any franchise. It is the first no-hitter at Dodger Stadium since Ramon Martinez no-hit the Marlins on July 14, 1995.

The Dodgers jumped on Rockies starter Jorge De La Rosa early, scoring two runs in a 28-pitch first inning. They added a pair of RBI doubles from Adrian Gonzalez and Matt Kemp to make it 4-0, then loaded the bases. Miguel Rojas collected the first extra-base hit of his career at an opportune time, driving in three runs to blow the game wide open in the third inning.

The Dodgers have struggled all season with the bases loaded and even after the Rojas hit are 7-for-46 on the season, hitting .152/.180/.239. But in their last three at-bats with the bases loaded they have gotten doubles by Dan Haren and Rojas.

But the night belonged to Kershaw. More to come.
