Yasiel Puig tied a career-high with four hits, including a three-run home run, and scored the winning run on Howie Kendrick's walk-off single in the ninth inning, giving the Dodgers a 7-6 win over the Diamondbacks in a high scoring affair on Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium to complete the three-game sweep.

After Puig walked with one out in the ninth inning, Daniel Hudson walked Adrian Gonzalez too, setting up Kendrick, who laced a single to right field, allowing Puig to score the winner without a throw.

Puig singled in the first, hit a three-run shot in the second and doubled in the fourth inning to knock out Arizona starter Jeremy Hellickson. a Puig added a single in the seventh for his first four-hit game of the season, and seventh of his career.

Puig's walk in the ninth inning also tied a career high, reaching base five times for the fourth time in his career.

Since returning from the disabled list on Saturday, Puig is 9-for-15 (.600) with three doubles and a home run in four games, scoring five runs and driving in three.

Joc Pederson kept the game from being even more high-scoring, robbing Yasmany Tomas of a three-run home run in the third inning with a spectacular catch. That helped preserve what at the time was a 4-1 Dodgers lead that would grow to 5-1 before Arizona started clawing back.

Kenley Jansen entered the ninth with a 6-5 lead, but A.J. Pollock greeted him with a home run to left field to tie the game. It was the first run allowed in nine games this season for Jansen, who retired the next three batters for the win, including...

Goldschmidt the Great

Puig wasn't the only person with four hits on Wednesday night at Chavez Ravine. Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt continued to torment the Dodgers with two singles, a home run and a double, scoring twice and driving in two.

The home run was the 100th of Goldschmidt's career, and his 17th against the Dodgers, five more than he has hit against any other team. Goldschmidt in his career has 34 extra-base hits in 66 games against the Dodgers, hitting .335/.392/.599 with 54 RBI and 47 runs scored.

This season against Los Angeles, Goldschmidt is hitting .417 (15-for-36) with four home runs, three doubles and 10 RBI in nine games.

After Goldschmidt's single in the third inning, his second hit, Vin Scully said on the SportsNet LA broadcast, "The fans in Arizona just think he's the greatest, and they're not wrong."

Wall ball

Tomas hit the ball hard off Brett Anderson three times, a few feet or maybe even inches away from a huge night. He hit a ball off the base of the center field wall in the first inning to drive in a run, but because he hit it so hard and Pederson deftly played the carom Tomas was held to a single.

In the third inning he hit one just a bit further but Pederson robbed him of a three-run home run.

But in the fifth inning, Tomas pulled a ball that Pederson couldn't reach, over the wall in left center field to draw the Diamondbacks within a run.

That home run helped end Brett Anderson's night after five innings, with the left-hander allowing two home runs on the night, matching his total in his previous nine starts combined.

The Dodgers have swept the Diamondbacks in each of their last three visits to Los Angeles, and their nine straight home wins over Arizona is a team record, passing an eight-game streak from May 29 to Sept. 9, 2004.

By a nail

Juan Nicasio left after just three batters in the sixth inning, recording one out. He had a broken fingernail on the middle finger of his throwing hand.

Andre Ethier is starting for the 43rd time in 60 games this season, a number that would have lost a lot of bets in March, or even April.

Ethier has earned the playing time by seizing his opportunity. He's hitting .286/.370/.509, his highest on-base and slugging percentages since 2008. With eight home runs already this season, Ethier doubled his total from 2014, in 380 plate appearances (he has 184 PA this year).

With his production in 2015, Ethier continues to climb the Los Angeles Dodgers leaderboard in a number of categories.

His home run on Monday gave Ethier 470 extra-base hits in his career, one more than Ron Cey for fourth place on the Los Angeles list. The top three are bunched up bot a long way away - Willie Davis (585), Eric Karros (582) and Steve Garvey (579).

Ethier has 153 career home runs, one shy of Willie Davis for ninth place on the LA Dodger list. After Davis are passable targets this year in Shawn Green (162) and Raul Mondesi (163).

Ethier, the only Dodger with seven straight years of 30 or more doubles, has only six doubles this year, but his 287 career doubles are just six behind Bill Russell for fourth place, with Eric Karros (302) looming in the distance in third.

With 607 career runs scored, Ethier is within reach this season of both ninth-place Jim Gilliam (630) and eighth-place Matt Kemp (650).

With 490 walks, including 20 this season, Ethier is 27 behind Karros for seventh place, with Ron Fairly (522) and Wes Paker (533) in his sights.

In other categories, Ethier's position is pretty well set, at least for 2015:

Games: 1,330 (eighth); up next, Mike Scioscia (1,441)

Hits: 1,284 (seventh); up next, Ron Cey (1,378)

RBI: 655 (fifth); up next, Cey (842)

Total bases: 2,090 (sixth); up next, Cey (2,321)

In his career, Ethier has hit .324/.387/.521 with 37 doubles and 19 home runs in 146 games against Arizona, including .348/.464/.739 with two home runs this season.

LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers resume their seven-game homestand beginning Monday when the Diamondbacks come to town for three games. Los Angeles has won six straight games against Arizona at Dodger Stadium, dating back to 2014, and has won five straight series against them at Dodger Stadium, dating back to 2013. Here is a look at the scheduled starting pitchers for the three-game set.

Monday, 7:10 p.m. PT (SportsNet LA)

Mike Bolsinger makes his first start against his old team, and looks to turn things around. After six total walks in his first four starts, to go with 22 strikeouts, Bolsinger has six walks and only six strikeouts in total in his last two starts. Rubby De La Rosa comes to town with 67 strikeouts in 69 innings and a solid 23.3-percent strikeout rate, but also sports a 5.09 ERA and has allowed 12 home runs in 11 starts, matching his total for all of 2014, in 101⅔ innings.

Tuesday, 7:10 p.m. (SportsNet LA)

In the middle game of the series, Carlos Frias gets the call, trying to avoid becoming the third pitcher ever to allow 10 or more hits in three straight starts at Dodger Stadium. The only two pitchers to suffer that fate were Ramon Martinez (all in June 1995) and Matt Morris (spread out from 1997-2006). Robbie Ray, the main return piece Arizona got for shortstop Did Gregorius over the winter, has excelled in his two starts for the Diamondbacks. The 23-year-old left-hander has allowed one run in 11 innings, with nine strikeouts and one walk.

Wednesday, 7:10 p.m. (SportsNet LA)

Brett Anderson has four straight quality starts and a 2.28 ERA in seven starts since May 1. The left-hander also has two quality starts in two tries against Arizona this season, allowing three total runs in 12 innings in a pair of no-decisions. Jeremy Hellickson also has four straight quality starts, going 3-0 with a 3.28 ERA during that span, with 17 strikeouts and six walks in 24⅔ innings.
