Zack Greinke continued his magnificent 2015 campaign with another stellar outing on Sunday, leading the Dodgers to a 4-3 win over the Diamondbacks on Sunday afternoon at Chase Field in Phoenix.

The win completed a 7-3 road trip for the Dodgers and lowered their magic number to clinch the National League West down to a lucky 13.

Greinke didn't need much luck on Sunday, striking out eight in pitching eight scoreless innings and 93 pitches.

The Dodgers went with closer Kenley Jansen in the ninth inning with a 4-0 lead, a non-save situation, and after striking out the first two batters Jansen allowed a walk and a single before Jarrod Saltalamacchia took him deep to cut the lead to one run.

Jansen retired Jake Lamb to end the game, but threw a season-high 33 pitches in his outing.

Greinke didn't allow a hit until the fifth inning, and the only real threat came in the sixth, when two singles brought the great Paul Goldschmidt to the plate representing the go-ahead run with two outs in a 2-0 game.

Greinke struck him out, the third time Goldschmidt struck out on the day.

It was the 20th time in 29 starts Greinke has allowed no more than one run this season, and his 11th scoreless start of the year. The only Dodgers pitcher with more scoreless starts in one season than Greinke's 11 was Sandy Koufax, with 13 in 1963.

In six starts at Chase Field as a Dodger, Greinke has six wins and has allowed three runs. Total, for an 0.65 ERA.

Greinke surpassed 200 innings for the sixth time in his career, now at 200⅔ on the season. He lowered his major-league-leading 1.61.

The Dodgers backed Greinke with scattered runs throughout. Justin Ruggiano nearly hit the Dodgers' fourth leadoff home run in five games, but settled for a double off the wall and scored in the first inning on a Justin Turner RBI single. Scott Van Slyke drove in a run on a fielders choice ground ball in the third.

Ronald Torreyes, subbing in for Jose Peraza at second base in his major league debut, doubled in the seventh in his first major league at-bat, then scored on a two-out single by Adrian Gonzalez, who had three hits and a walk on the day. A.J. Ellis added a solo home run into the pool area in the eighth inning, his fifth home run of the season and all in his last 90 plate appearances.

Corey Seager proved he was human with an 0-for-4 day at the plate, but worked a nine-pitch walk in the ninth inning. He has now reached base in all nine of his starts.

Up next

The Dodgers return home on Monday, beginning with three games against the Rockies. In the series opener, Clayton Kershaw takes the mound, facing Colorado rookie Jon Gray.

LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers on Sunday recalled infielder Ronald Torreyes from Triple-A Oklahoma Citybefore their series finale against the Diamondbacks at Chase Field in Phoenix. The active roster now has 35 players, including 17 pitchers.

It's a full-circle roster day, as Torreyes was acquired from the Blue Jays for cash considerations on June 12, and the Dodgers designated infielder Darwin Barney for assignment to make room. Earlier Sunday, the Dodgers traded Barney to Toronto for a player to be named later or cash.

Torreyes will wear No. 59 with the Dodgers.

Most of Torreyes' time with the Dodgers was in Double-A Tulsa, though he mixed in 13 games with Triple-A Oklahoma City in August and September then continued with OKC in the PCL playoffs. Between Double-A and Triple-A in the Dodgers system, Torreyes hit .295/.347/.406 with 15 doubles, three triples and four home runs in 75 games.

Torreyes, who turned 23 on Sept. 2, between his time in the Blue Jays and Dodgers systems this year played 59 games at shortstop, 41 games at second base and eight games at third.

If he gets into a game, Torreyes will be the 55th player to play at least one game for the Dodgers this season, extending the franchise record. The old record was 53, set in 1944 and 1998.

Against Arizona he has been even better, at 6-0 with a 1.37 ERA in eight starts, with 50 strikeouts, 12 walks and only eight runs allowed to the D-backs. At Chase Field during that span he is 5-0 with an 0.81 ERA in five starts, including seven scoreless inning in Phoenix on April 12.

That is Greinke's only start against the Diamondbacks this season.

The Dodgers have Justin Ruggiano in left field, Scott Van Slyke in right field, and A.J. Ellis at catcher against the left-handed Patrick Corbin for Arizona.

The Dodgers open a three-game weekend series against the Diamondbacks at Chase Field, their final trip to Phoenix in 2015. Here is a look at the probable pitchers for the series between National League West foes.

Friday, 6:40 p.m. (SportsNet LA)

Alex Wood has built more trust in his last two starts, including seven scoreless inning against the Padres on Saturday in San Diego. With exactly five days rest this season, the left-hander is 4-2 with a 2.53 ERA in 10 starts. Fellow southpaw Robbie Ray hasn't picked up a victory since July 7, 0-7 with a 5.23 ERA in his last 10 starts. Since the beginning of August, the D-backs have lost each of his last seven starts, though thanks in part to the otherwise productive Arizona offense scoring 10 total runs in those games.

Saturday, 5:10 p.m. (SportsNet LA)

Mike Bolsinger gets his third start this season against his former team, and manager Don Mattingly said on Wednesday that part of the reason Bolsinger was slotted into the rotation this weekend was his success against Arizona. Bolsinger struck out eight and allowed two runs in seven innings in a win in Los Angeles on June 8, then pitched four scoreless innings in Arizona on June 29, an outing that was cut short because of some bad oysters wreaking havoc with Bolsinger's intestinal system.

Old friend Rubby De La Rosa is second in the National League with 29 home runs allowed in 28 starts this season (old friend Dan Haren has given up 30 homers), and the Dodgers have absolutely owned De La Rosa this season. Los Angeles has won all three of his starts against them, with 16 runs on 19 hits in 15⅔ innings, including five home runs, 17 strikeouts and five walks.

Sunday, 1:10 p.m. (SportsNet LA)

Zack Greinke is 7-0 with a 1.27 ERA in eight daytime starts this season, and since joining the Dodgers in 2013 is 6-0 with a 1.38 ERA in eight starts against Arizona, with 50 strikeouts and 12 walks in 52⅓ innings. At Chase Field in these three seasons he has been even better, going 5-0 in five starts, allowing three runs for a 0.81 ERA. He pitched seven scoreless innings on April 12 in Phoenix, his only start against the D-backs this season.

Patrick Corbin has recovered nicely from Tommy John surgery, going 5-3 with a 3.32 ERA in 12 starts since his July 4 return to the rotation, with 61 strikeouts and just 13 walks in 62⅓ innings. He has a 2.31 ERA in six starts at Chase Field, with 35 strikeouts and only five walks in 35 innings.
