Hall of Fame Dodgers announcer Jaime Jarrin has seen six decades worth of opening days, so its only natural that he is the Spanish-language voice for a promotional video from Major League Baseball about “Opening day at home.”
The video, which opens with an overhead shot of Dodger Stadium, shows a series of shots from opening days past, as well as various fan interactions with players, including some from social media during the coronavirus shutdown.
The theme of the video, per MLB, is “Even though we’re apart, we can come together.”
Though no live baseball is being played on Thursday, what would have been opening day, a series of classic games are being shown on various outlets, including Twitter, Facebook and YouTube in addition to some televised games and events as well. The Dodgers are involved in quite a few of them.
In addition to Jarrin, who has broadcast Dodgers games since 1959, MLB tabbed Angels superstar Mike Trout to narrate the English-language version of the video.
