We don’t have a live baseball game to watch on what would have been opening day. We do have a bunch of older games that are being replayed, but no in-the-moment baseball.
But even without a live game, opening day deserves a proper national anthem, and there are few better at delivering than Keith Williams Jr., a Dodger Stadium staple. Since this is roughly the time the anthem would have been played today, please enjoy:
That video is from Game 1 of the 2017 World Series, certainly on par at the very least with the pomp and circumstance of opening day. All I know is every time I hear Williams sing, I get goosebumps. May we all strive for that feeling of bliss as we navigate through a pandemic.
And what I would give to be able to hit a high note like Williams can. Man.
Happy opening day everyone. See you soon, baseball. (Please?)
